Here’s what Sarah and Tom had to say about moving their date, dropping down from 180 guests to 30… and how the day felt to them. Seriously, an amazing couple! With so much speculation in the media right now I hope this gives you the confidence to marry the love of your life in the trickiest of times…
“After making the decision to postpone our wedding by a whole year to December 2021 (convinced we wanted the big party for 180), we found that all the uncertainty surrounding restrictions, new variants, the huge backlog of weddings that’s to come etc. etc. took the fun out of the wedding planning process and ultimately made us realise all we really wanted was to be MARRIED! We therefore took the opportunity to get married with 30 of our nearest and dearest in May 2021 and can honestly say it was the best decision EVER! We were fortunate enough to keep all of our suppliers and kept everything as planned (photographer, videographer, string quartet, band etc.) as we still wanted it to feel like our big (but now small) day! The reduced numbers also allowed us to treat our guests to our favourite wine, personalised menu cards and espresso martinis after dinner. We were able to cut the small talk and spend quality time with everyone there, and most importantly, with each other. It truly felt like “our day”. Everyone turned their phones off (making our professional photos from Lucie that bit more special) and totally immersed themselves in the celebrations. The usual formalities felt intimate and personal, the bridesmaids and ushers got to know each other, and after over a year of no-dancing, we danced like we never have before! Our guests felt they’d never get to go to a wedding so intimate again. Those who were no longer able to join us came to cheer us on outside the church, and we will celebrate with them at a later date. I would recommend a micro wedding to anyone. It was perfect in every way! ”
